Emotions in Reading and Learning from Texts: Progress and Open Problems

چکیده

Reading texts can prompt intense emotions, and these emotions profoundly influence learning from texts. I first discuss the findings eight studies reported in this special issue. The represent pivotal advances research on reading. Focusing science texts, they show that different types of text reading ways. Furthermore, document how interplay features, processes impacts knowledge acquisition, conceptual change, attitude change. then outline core directions for future research. We need to (a) expand current theories adequately explain multiple links between cognitive processes, motivational during reading; (b) use causal designs disentangle cause-effect relations linking antecedents outcomes, including reciprocal causation; (c) complement between-person with intra-individual analysis; (d) dynamic measurement multichannel indicators capture emotional processes; (e) investigate generalizability across diverse groups learners sociocultural contexts.
